It isn't too early to write that Arsenal are already a club in crisis. Two league defeats and a couple of poor performances with Manchester City away at the weekend. Before that, they have a tricky EFL Cup second round tie at Championship side West Bromwich Albion. It's bad news that Arsenal are even playing this game. Sides who are in European competition get a bye to the third round but Arsenal don't fall into that category after last season's eighth place finish. This season has seen them lose to Brentford and Chelsea without scoring a goal. Fans are upset already, heaven knows what they will think if this game is lost. Arsenal will make changes for this cup tie, so that will give some time on the pitch to players such as Aubameyang, Tavares, Maitland Niles and Chambers who didn't start Sunday's home loss to Chelsea.
West Brom were relegated from the Premier League last season and conceded seven goals in two games against the Gunners. They have made a good start to the new season and are currently second in the Championship, only behind leaders Fulham on goal difference. They have won three of their four league matches with victories over Luton Town, Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers after beginning with a draw at Bournemouth. West Brom have scored 11 league goals but conceded five. They too are likely to make changes, that's how it goes in the EFL Cup. Three of their last four home ties in this competition have been lost, the other a win over League Two Harrogate Town. Back Arsenal to get a win here.
