Senegal will take on Algeria in the final match of the Africa Cup of Nations, currently going on in Egypt. This is after the Lions of Teranga rose above Tunisia with a 1-0 victory in the semifinals, the goal coming 10 minutes into extra time, as an own goal by Dylan Bronn. Both teams were awarded penalties during regulation time, but their takers faltered. Idrissa Gueye had scored Senegals winning goal as they took down Benin 1-0 in the quarterfinals, a match that they qualified after Sadio Mane scored for victory against Uganda in the round of 16. Final opponents Algeria, rose as the best performing team of Group C, the same group that Senegal was in during the preliminaries. The team went on to beat Guinea 3-0 in the round of 16 with Yousef Bellailli, Riyad Mahrez and Adam Ounas finding the back of the net. In the quarterfinals Sofiane Feghouli's goal was evened out by Jonathan Kodjia, driving the match to the round of penalties, which Algeria won 4-3. They later knocked out Nigeria 2-1 in the semi finals, with Mahrez scoring the winning goal. Algeria have beaten Senegal four times in their last six matches of which the latter won once.
Senegal have had a great display of football prowess, so far, but Algeria are a tough contestant and will either win the match or bid for a draw.
