Only two points separate Braga and Porto as the two teams prepare for a blockbuster Liga Portugal clash at the Estádio Municipal de Braga on Sunday. Ahead of this matchday 25, Braga are 3rd in the standings with 55 points from 24 matches while Porto are 2nd with 57 points. Braga were thrashed 4-1 in the reverse fixture, so there’s a lot at stake for them than just three points. If they can take revenge of that loss, they can overtake Porto and take the second spot although a loss could potentially see their gap to fourth-place cut to two points. Having crashed out of the Conference League, the focus for Braga now remains on staying in the top-three spots of the league. They have been in reasonably good form with ten wins from their last 12 league matches but the losses have been to the teams currently in fourth and fifth spots. The home form is even more impressive with five straight wins.
Porto won’t find it easy because Braga have won two and drawn one of their last three home league matches against them. The visitors start this round eight points behind league leaders Benfica and the title now remains out of sight, unless a miracle happens. Porto have also seen their European campaign come to a close having lost to Inter Milan in the Champions League. That should see them put more focus on the domestic competition. They are also in the middle of an impressive recent run with eight wins out of their last nine league matches. Four of those wins have come in a row on the road and they will hope to extend that record.
