Jarry came into this tournament following a title-winning run in Geneva, where he beat Ruud in the second round in three sets. His clay form this year has been particularly impressive, currently 20-7, which has helped him improve from 87th in the world ranking in February to inside the top 30 at present. Jarry began his 2023 Roland Garros campaign with a straight-sets win over Hugo Dellien before taking down 16th seed Tommy Paul as the underdog in round two. Another win here could propel the Chilean into the top 25 in the world, but can he overcome the Norwegian for the second time in as many weeks?

While Jarry may have a slight psychological edge, having beaten this opponent less than two weeks ago, Ruud has the advantage of experience in these situations on his side.
