After a tight win in their tournament opener in Pool B of the Rugby World Cup, New Zealand (third, four points) will look to make the most of their next opponent Canada (fourth, zero points).
The All Blacks started with a 23-13 win over South Africa in the opening weekend of the tournament. With a gap of ten full days after that, New Zealand should have no fitness issues ahead of this game. With that win, the All Blacks now have won their last 15 World Cup matches in a row. Their last loss in the tournament has come in 2007, against France. Their record is formidable against Canada as well, with New Zealand winning each of their last five matches. That includes a 79-15 win in the 2011 group stage, which was the result when these sides last met.
Canada started their tournament with a 48-7 hammering at the hands of Italy. The Canadians conceded seven tries and with that a bonus point. They did get a consolation try, with Andrew Coe winning points for Canada. They have lost each of four group matches at the last World Cup and that could be the case here once again. With the loss in their tournament opener, Canada have now lost six matches in a row. It will be a huge miracle if they can avoid a hiding at the hands of the all-conquering All Blacks.
New Zealand will surely go for a changed XV to rest their players ahead of more pressing engagements. Still, there is a lot of gas in the tank for the All Blacks to coast to a win. It is promising to be another big scoring game for New Zealand, who are sure to walk away with a bonus point.
