After a steady start to their Euro 2024 qualification campaign, Denmark will be keen to make it two in two when they visit Kazakhstan on Sunday. This Group H match will be played at the Astana Arena with the hosts yet to register a point at zero points and the visitors on three after the first set of games. Kazakhstan lost 2-1 to Slovenia despite leading at half-time in a disappointing match on Thursday. They are yet to qualify for a European Championship as an independent state, so the odds are heavily stacked against them. Especially against Denmark, who have defeated them in each of the four matches they played so far. With eight losses from their last ten Euro home qualifiers, the hosts are struggling at this level which is evident in their struggles. It is not all doom and gloom though, as Kazakhstan went on a five-game winning run in home matches before that loss to Slovenia. Kazakhstan are already through to the playoffs by virtue of their performance in the Nations League, even if they don't finish in the top-two of the qualifying group.
Denmark were stretched in their 3-1 win over Finland on Thursday needing two late goals. It was Rasmus Højlund who shone with a hat-trick, with two of those coming at the 82nd and 90th minutes. Losing defender Andreas Christensen to injury is a blow, but the Danes would like to shrug it off. They are unbeaten in Euro qualifiers since losing to Sweden in 2015, winning and drawing five games each hence. Any concerns that they may have of losing the plot here stems from their away form, which has been slightly below-par. Denmark have won just five of their last 16 away matches in Euro qualifiers, drawing seven and losing four.
