Diego Schwartzman is enduring a torrid campaign thus far and has managed only six wins from the 16 matches he has played. He and Borges have met once before, earlier this year in Phoenix in the Challenger Circuit where Borges was victorious.

Nuno Borges is faring much better than Schwartzman. This is despite his inconsistency, especially on clay where he has a losing record currently. The Portuguese number one has lost five of the eight matches he has played on clay. Like Schwartzman, Borges started his run at Roland Garros with victory, defeating John Isner also in five. The win moved him up nine places to 71st place in the live ranking. Another win against Schwartzman, can move him up 10 more places and into a new career-high ranking. Borges defeated Schwartzman on the way to the title in Phoenix, his second Challenger title of the season so far.

This is a match that could go either way given the two players’ struggles with form this season. Our take for Diego Schwartzman v Nuno Borges is however for Borges to win. Borges is less experienced at tour level than Schwartzman but he is faring better than the Argentine this season. He also beat Schwartzman earlier in the season and he should be confident of doing it again.
