CF Montreal v FC Cincinnati Betting Tips [20 September 2023]

Montreal will play host to high-flyers Cincinnati in the MLS on Thursday. The hosts are currently in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, while the visitors lead the standings after 28 games. Montreal played out a 0-0 draw at home to Chicago Fire last week, which followed consecutive losses against New York City and Columbus Crew. They are now up to 36 points, three above Chicago, who are the first side below the final series playoff places. Over the course of the season, Montreal have recorded 11 wins, three draws, and 14 losses. However, they are the joint-second-lowest scoring team in the East with 28. At home, The CFM have secured a total of 28 points from a possible 42, though they have failed to win either of their last two. Despite going up against the league leaders, the hosts are the marginal favourites. 

Meanwhile, Cincinnati also dropped points for a second consecutive match, drawing 2-2 against Philadelphia Union last weekend. Despite that, they still have a solid lead at the top of the table, currently eight points ahead of Orlando City in second. Over their last six matches, the visitors have won three, drawn one, and lost two. They also have the league’s second-best defensive record, with just 32 goals conceded to date. The Orange and Blues have the league's third-best away record this season, with 21 points taken from a possible 42. But it is worth noting that they have only won one of their last eight games on the road. Cincinnati won the reverse fixture 3-0 back in May and will need a similar performance here, with Orlando closing the gap in recent weeks. 

While the league leaders have not been at their sparkling best of late, they will be expecting to win this match against an opponent they overcame fairly easily in the reverse fixture. However, their away form has been a little iffy in recent weeks, which means we will opt for the safer route on the double chance market in the event of a draw.
