Carlos Alcaraz continues the defence of his US Open title. To reach a final against either Novak Djokovic or Ben Shelton, he has to get past the third seeded Daniil Medvedev. Alcaraz is playing in the last four of a Grand Slam for the fourth time in his career. This year saw him miss the Australian Open but he's since got to the last four at Roland Garros and won the Wimbledon title. He's earned more ranking points than any other player on the ATP Tour this year. However, he'll be second in the overall rankings at the end of this tournament. Only Daniel Evans has been able to take a set off him in this tournament. The last eight saw him get a comfortable straight sets win over Alexander Zverev.
Daniil Medvedev has played Alcaraz twice this year and lost them both in straight sets. One of those was on the hard courts of Indian Wells, the other on the grass at Wimbledon. This year has seen him win five titles with only one of those not being on a hard court. They all came in the first half of the year though with the last being four months ago. Medvedev has previously played in two US Open finals. He won the title in 2021 and is again in with a chance to reach the final. Two sets have been lost so far in this tournament and the last eight saw him defeat Andrey Rublev in straight sets. We go for Alcaraz to get the win here and get through to Sunday's final.
