Benfica Lisbon v Porto Betting Tips [6 May 2021]

An important game in the Primeira League for both clubs. Porto are second in the table, six behind leaders Sporting and four ahead of home side Benfica. The second placed side  will be nine points behind Sporting if the unbeaten leaders win at Rio Ave on Wednesday. Porto are currently in the position that takes them straight into the Champions League group stages next season. Dropping to third would see them have to qualify. They will want to win this game then not just to keep the pressure on Sporting but to stay third. Porto are unbeaten in their last 24 league matches, their most recent game being a 3-2 home win over Famalicao. Six draws in those 24 games have helped Sporting build up their six point lead. Porto have no defeats in their last 12 away league fixtures. Four of the last six have had under 2.5 goals scored in them.

Benfica have an eight point lead over fourth placed Sporting Braga, so Champions League football next season is looking extremely likely. Avoid qualifying would be a bonus though and they need to win this game. Benfica have won three games in a row since a surprise home defeat by Gil Vicente last month. Nine goals have been scored in those three Primeira League games. That loss to Gil Vicente is their only home defeat in their last 11 league matches.  A run of five away matches without a win in January and February scuppered their title hopes. Seven of their last nine at home in the league have had under 2.5 goals scored in them. This isn't a fixture that is usually full of goals. Six of the last seven home league games against Porto have seen under 2.5 goals scored. That looks the maret to bet on in this match.
