Wigan Athletic are 20th in the Championship and host Sheffield United who are second in the table. The home side are a point from safety but have showed some improved form in recent games. Only one of their last four league games has been lost and that has taken them off the bottom of the table. Their most recent match saw them draw 1-1 at Millwall but they did take the lead in that game. They have only won one of their last nine games in the Championship. That was a 2-1 home win over Blackpool in their final match before the World Cup break. Home form is the worst in the Championship with just two wins from 11 matches with only eight goals scored. Those two wins have come in the last five home league games.
Sheffield United are only three points behind leaders Burnley. They are five points ahead of Blackburn Rovers in third, so a return to the Premier League in 2023 is looking a possibility. Last weekend saw them beat bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield Town 1-0 at home. That made it five wins in their last six league fixtures, including a 5-2 home win over Burnley. That was a rare high scoring game as four of the last five United matches have ended in a 1-0 scoreline. They have only lost one of their last seven league games, a surprising 1-0 home loss to Rotherham. United have won six of their 11 away league fixtures with the last three all won to nil. Back them to win this and have a side bet on them doing so with under 2.5 goals in the game.
