Ugo Humbert v Alex De Minaur Betting Tips [28 July 2023]

World number 18 Alex de Minaur will take on 38-ranked Ugo Humbert in the quarter-final of the ATP Atlanta Open on Saturday. The winner of this round will face either Christopher Eubanks or Aleksandar Vukic in the semi-final. These two have met on four previous occasions, with de Minaur currently leading the head-to-head standings 3-1. After a second-round disappointment at Wimbledon, de Minaur bounced back well against Thanasi Kokkinakis in the last round, overcoming his compatriot in straight sets. After receiving a buy in the opening round, de Minaur looked good in his first match, breaking his opponent early in the set while not facing a single break point himself. The second set was a little more challenging as he found himself 3-0 down before leveling at 4-4 and powering home. The Australian is now 23-14 for the year and 10-4 on the surface. De Minaur came so close to winning the Queen’s Club trophy last month but came up short against Matteo Berrettini. He will be determined to go one better here, where he has won the title twice in the past. 

Meanwhile, Ugo Humbert comes into this match off the back of a fairly tricky encounter against qualifier Lloyd Harris. The Frenchman was the underdog in the match but managed to overturn the odds claiming a straight-sets victory in under two hours, taking his record to 29-17 for the year. He is now in search of his second consecutive semi-final after reaching the penultimate round in Newport last week. Humbert has claimed two Challenger circuit titles already this season in Cagliari and Bordeaux, which has pushed his ranking from 106th at the start of the year to inside the top 40 at present. However, the Frenchman has not played a top-20 player since losing to Andrey Rublev back in March and will likely find it difficult in this one as well.
