Tottenham v Brighton Betting Tips [8 April 2023]

The race for the coveted Champions League qualification spots is heating up in the English Premier League. Tottenham begin the weekend in fifth place and host Brighton and Hove Albion who are in sixth. The visitors continue to defy the odds this season and will now be eyeing up a chance for at least a Europa League spot following a good run of results in recent weeks. Brighton registered an important 2-0 win over Bournemouth in midweek to extend their unbeaten run to seven in all competitions and five in the Premier League, including three wins and two draws. The visitors have gotten themselves into sixth place in the Premier League, with 46 points in 27 matches, just four points behind Spurs but they do have two games in hand over their opponents. In away matches, the Seagulls are riding a seven-match unbeaten run, boasting a record of four wins and three draws, with their last defeat on the road coming last October against Manchester City. Brighton is one of the most attractive sides when they’re in full flow and will see this as the perfect time to come up against Spurs, who have been stumbling in recent weeks. 

It’s been a rollercoaster of a ride for Spurs in recent times, as they come into this match still managerless after the much-debated departure of Antonio Conte following his rant after their 3-3 draw against Southampton last month. The hosts have slipped to fifth place in the Premier League after failing to capitalize on two fixtures that they were heavily expected to win against Southampton and Everton. Spurs are now on 50 points after 29 matches, three points behind Newcastle and Manchester United, though they have played one more match than both those sides. Over their last six league matches, Spurs have won three, drawn two, and lost one, but their home form has been much better, as they enter this match on a four-match winning streak. Spurs won the reverse fixture 1-0 thanks to a Harry Kane goal, but Brighton has improved since then and will not make it easy for the hosts to complete the double over them in this one.

There really is very little to choose between these sides, as illustrated on the bookmakers’ odds, though Spurs are a marginal favourite, mainly due to it being a home fixture for them. However, it’s hard to confidently bet against the visitors who are improving each and every week and have emerged as the surprise package of the Premier League this season. This one could go either way, but we fancy that with both sides attacking strength, we should see goals at both ends.
