Switzerland started their Euro 2024 qualification campaign in the best manner possible and will be keen to continue their winning run with a tricky home game against Israel. This matchday two of Group I will be played at Stade de Genève on Tuesday. The Swiss are top of the group standings with three points and a goal difference of five after matchday one, while Israel are 4th with one point. Switzerland romped to a 5-0 win over Belarus in their first match on Saturday. The win was more or less confirmed within 30 minutes as Renato Steffen scored a hat-trick and Granit Xhaka and Zeki Amdouni added one each after the hour mark. As they look to make it a third straight European championship qualification for the first time in their history, Switzerland will look to continue their impressive form in the qualifiers. They have won four straight games in this competition and have also won seven of their last eight home European qualifiers.
Israel are already guaranteed a place in the playoffs by virtue of their Nations League position. Yet, they would be keen to get into winning ways after a 1-1 draw against Kosovo on matchday one with Dor Peretz saving the blushes with a second-half equaliser. That result made it four matches in a row without a win in the Euro qualifiers, losing three. It is worse on the road with Israel failing to win any of their last five away European qualifiers, including one through penalties. Their hopes of qualifying for the European Championships for the first time ever are still intact, after already grabbing a playoff spot.
