Sheffield United v Blackburn Betting Tips [19 March 2023]

The FA Cup returns this weekend, and in the first match on Sunday, we will see two of the remaining three Championship sides, Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers, lock horns at Bramall Lane for a spot in the final four. Sheffield United has been very good this season and looks destined to join Burnley in automatic promotion back to the Premier League. The hosts are currently second in Championship, 13 points behind runaway leaders Burnley and six clear of Middlesbrough in third. Sheffield won their last match 2-1 against Sunderland in midweek, which was their fourth win in their last six matches, along with two losses. Sheffield United overcame Tottenham Hotspur in the last round of this competition and will hope to carry that form into this match against a dangerous Rovers side. 

Blackburn Rovers has been one of the most in-form sides in the Championship over the last couple of months and were on an 11-match unbeaten run in all competitions prior to their defeat against Sunderland last week. However, they bounced back well from that loss in midweek, beating Reading 2-1 at home. Blackburn has a record of six wins and one loss over their last seven matches and has gotten themselves into the thick of the Championship playoff qualification contention, currently in fifth place with 61 points in 37 matches, three points behind Middlesbrough in third and one point clear of Millwall below them. Blackburn pulled off a good win over this opposition two weeks ago in the league and will be confident that they can put on another resilient performance this time around. 

With a place in the final four awaiting the victors, neither side will want to concede early in this one and run the risk of having to chase the game, which could leave them open at the back. As such, this is likely to be a tight and tactical match where the first goal could end up being the winner. Therefore, our Sheffield United v Blackburn Rovers prediction is under 2.5 goals.
