Sandhausen v Leipzig Betting Tips [7 August 2021]

Sandhausen’s 2. Bundesliga campaign has already kicked off with SV losing each of their first two league games. Back-to-back defeats to Regensburg and Dusseldorf leave Sandhausen in the relegation places at this early stage. They have conceded five goals, are yet to score and look set for another relegation scrap having finished 15th last season, just above the bottom three. The home side made it safely through the first round of the DFB Pokal last season by seeing off TSV Steinbach (2-1) but were comfortably beaten by top-tier opposition, Wolfsburg at the next stage. Sandhausen haven’t made it past the second round in any of the last four seasons and have been put out of the competition by a Bundesliga side in each of the last two tournaments.  

The last time these teams met was in the second division when Sandhausen actually beat Leipzig 1-0. However, RB were promoted that term and haven’t looked back since. Their playing regular Champions League football and have made it to two of the last three DFB Pokal finals. Leipzig were well beaten (4-1) by Borussia Dortmund in the showpiece back in May but new manager Jesse Marsch will be hoping he can go one better than predecessor, Julian Nagelsmann who has left for Bayern Munich. Die Roten Bullen may have lost centre-back pairing Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate but the signing of highly-sought striker Andre Silva from Eintracht Frankfurt has got the fans’ attention. Leipzig beat second-tier side, Nurnberg, 3-0 in the first round of this competition last year and since their promotion back in 2016 they have won five of their six meetings with lower league opposition.
