Sixth placed Roma host tenth placed Empoli looking to bounce back from two successive defeats. Roma are in the Europa Conference League position at present but only a point adrift of the Champions League qualifying places. The weekend saw them lose 2-1 at leaders Napoli and then on Wednesday, they slumped to a 2-1 home loss to Cremonense in the Italian Cup. They made plenty of changes for the cup tie so not too much should be read into that loss. Home form for Roma has been impressive of late with seven points from their last three played with the last two both won to nil.
Empoli come into this match on a six-game unbeaten run, with a draw against Torino helping them edge closer to the European places, now being just three points away from the seventh placed Udinese. They have also been dangerous on the road, losing just two of their last ten games and defeating Inter in their most recent fixture. Before that win though, Empoli had only won one of their last nine away games in Serie A.
