Real Madrid top La Liga by two points as the midweek fixtures begin. They host newly-promoted Mallorca who are ninth in the table, five points behind their opponents. Real may not be top by the time this game begins, with second placed Atletico playing away to Getafe on Tuesday, a side that's lost all their La Liga games this season. Regardless of how the defendng La Liga champions get on against Getafe, Real will expect to be top as we head into the weekend games. They have won four of their five league games this season and won 1-0 away against Inter in the Champions League. Real may not have won the league last season but they are unbeaten in 23 La Liga games. Four out of five have been won this season with only Levante avoiding defeat. Levante just happen to be the last team to beat Real in La Liga and it took a late Vinicious Jr goal to avoid that happening again this season. He's already scored five league goals this season, with Benzema on six, so anytime goalscorer bets on them may well be winners. Real have played five La Liga games this season, but this is only the second home game. The other saw them defeat Celta Vigo 5-2 after trailing 1-0 and 2-1. They are unbeaten in their last 11 home games played in La Liga.
Mallorca won promotion last season and have made a steady start to the new season in La Liga. They finished second in La Liga II last season and had the best away record in that division. Mallorca were unbeaten in their first three games on their return to La Liga after being relegated in the 2019/20 season. They began with a 1-1 home draw with Real Betis, leading and then giving their opponents an own goal. That was followed by a 1-0 win at Alaves (who have lost all of their league games this season) and a 1-0 home victory over Espanyol, who were the other side automaticially promoted from La Liga II last season. Their unbeaten run was ended with a 2-0 loss at Athletic Bilbao and they then drew 0-0 at home with Villareal. Five games and all with under 2.5 goals scored. That record is likely to change here, go for Real to win and be ahead at both half and full time.
