16th placed Reading host Watford hoping to repeat their recent FA Cup win over the fifth placed side. While Reading are in the bottom half of the Championship table, they are only six points adfrift of the final promotion place. They're seven behind Watford but do have a game in hand on them. Last weekend saw them lose 3-1 at Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round but had earlier beaten Watford 2-0 at home in round three. That win is the only one Reading have achieved in their last six games in all competitions. Home form has been strong though with eight league wins this season, that's compared to just three wins in 15 on the road which is really hampering their promotion challenge.
Watford are only a point off third place but 13 behind the second automatic promotion spot. Like their opponents, their away form is letting them down. Five away league games have been won but the same number drawn and also lost. They have only won one of their last four games in all competitions so really need to get something from this game. That's even more important considering four of their fixtures this month are against the top two in the table and also the sides in sixth and tenth.
