Loftus Road plays host to a top six Championship battle, upon the much anticipated return of England’s second-tier, with QPR at home to Burnley. The hosts are currently in sixth place while Burnley are top of the standings. The Hoops might have been glad for the near month long break. After reaching as high as the top two in late October, a miserable run of four defeats and a draw in six has seen them slip down the table. Oh the upside, their recent record at home has been positive, with QPR having lost just twice in their last nine in front of their own fans. They have also managed to score at least twice in five of those games. The hosts also hold an impressive recent tradition against the Clarets, being unbeaten against Burnley in each of their last five home encounters, though this is the first meeting in seven years and keeping clean sheets in three of them.
With regards to Burnley, Vincent Kompany’s side have been stellar in recent games, capping off an impressive first half of the season with a convincing 3-0 victory against bitter rivals Blackburn. Burnley have now won six of their last seven games, with their tally of eighteen goals scored in that run being a sign of rebranding compared to Sean Dyche’s defensive version. Burnley have also lost just once in their last twenty matchups and twice in thirteen on the road. What also should be noted is that six of the visitors’ last nine fixtures have featured Under 2.5 goals.
