Two of the youngest managers in the English game will face-off against one another as 38-year-old Alex Neil’s Preston North End welcome Danny Cowley (41) and 16th place Huddersfield Town to Deepdale this Saturday.
Preston have won two games on the bounce and have leaped to second in the standings just two points off leaders West Brom on 30. The Lilywhites followed up a 3-2 derby win over Blackburn Rovers with a 1-0 victory over Charlton last weekend to keep pace with the chasing pack of Leeds and Swansea on 28 points. The home side have tasted defeat just once in their last 10 league outings and with 10 goals in their last five games they are now the joint-highest scorers in the division alongside West Brom with 28 goals.
The visitors meanwhile are in 16th place and under the stewardship of Danny Cowley, who took over back in September, have settled back into the rhythm of Championship football. No team has accumulated more points in the last five games than the Terriers have picking up 11 points with three wins and two draws in recent outings.
Huddersfield were victorious last weekend on the road against Brentford with a 1-0 win extending their unbeaten run to seven and three games away from home without defeat. Cowley has also seemed to improved his team’s defensive ability registering four clean sheets in six previous matches.
Although Huddersfield haven’t been conceding regularly of late, they are coming up against the hottest attack in the league on current form so I do see the home side scoring. Preston have conceded in their last four home games so I can also see the visitors scoring. Two of the form sides in the division will clash this weekend and although the result is uncertain the tip here is for both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.
