Newcastle United welcome Leeds United in a bottom of the table clash in the Premier League. The home side are placed nineteenth in the division with just a single point from four matches so far while the visitors find themselves on seventeenth with two points from four games. Newcastle United opened the Premier League season with defeats to West Ham United and Aston Villa with 4-2 and 2-0 scorelines respectively. Steve Bruce’s men faced a Round 2 exit in the EFL Cup after going down on penalties to Burnley. Newcastle United earned their first point of the new season after a 2-2 draw with Southampton at the St. James Park before losing 4-1 to Manchester United. Despite scoring goals regularly, Newcastle United’s woeful defensive record is a concern for Steve Bruce. They have the worst defensive record in the division to date, conceding twelve goals in just four games. Bruce’s men will miss out on the services of Callum Wilson due to injury.
Leeds United have not been in a great run form of either. Marcelo Bielsa’s men began the new season with a 5-1 defeat to Manchester United before picking up a point against Everton with a 2-2 draw. Leeds United earned their second point of the Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw with Burnley before succumbing 3-0 defeat to Liverpool. Defence has been a problem for Leeds as they have conceded eleven goals in four games in the Premier League so far, which is the second-highest number of goals conceded in the league after Newcastle United. Both teams leave out spaces open at the back which is evident from their head to head records as well. The previous 18 Premier League meetings between the two sides have produced 62 goals at an average of over three goals per game. Both the teams have had more than 2.5 goals in three of their four Premier League games so far as well and failed to keep a single clean sheet in this year’s Premier League.
