Napoli v Sampdoria Betting Tips [4 June 2023]

Champions Napoli will host relegated Sampdoria in their final game of the season in the Italian Serie A. This game brings together the top finisher and the side set to finish bottom of the standings. At best this game will serve as Napoli’s final trophy march in front of their fans having won the title much earlier. Napoli let go of a 2-0 lead in their last game, to draw 2-2 with Bologna. That has been their highlight in their matches in the latter stages of the season. Three wins only in the last 10 matches explains it. Napoli have however failed to score in only one of their last eight matches. The big concern though will be the fact that they managed just one clean sheet in the last six games. Playing at home, Napoli have won their last two matches, beating Inter Milan and Fiorentina. With a run of eight straight wins over Sampdoria, Napoli will be confident of finishing strongly.

Sampdoria have nothing to play for here; not even a win will lift them from the bottom of the table. Their run coming into this game is also not so inspiring; they have eight losses in 10 games. In their last 22 competitive matches, Sampdoria have registered just one win, which came in mid-March, against fellow strugglers, Verona. Sampdoria’s form against Napoli isn’t great; they lost 2-0 at home in the first meeting this season. That was their fourth game against Napoli without scoring. In six of the last seven meetings with Napoli, they’ve conceded two or more goals. That, and the fact that they have nine losses in the last 11 away matches, doesn’t hold much promise for Sampdoria.

Both these teams have nothing much to play for. Napoli could hit 90 points for the season but that won’t mean much in the context of their title run. Sampdoria will also not move with a win here. In terms of recent form as well, we don’t expect much to change. Napoli are set to dominate this and our prediction for Napoli v Sampdoria is for Napoli to win both halves.
