Nantes v Angers Betting Tips [3 June 2023]

Seventeenth-placed Nantes will play host to bottom-club Angers in a crucial Ligue 1 match at the bottom of the table on Saturday. The hosts are currently two points from safety with Angers bottom and relegated.  Nantes' survival hopes are out of their hands and in poor form but will fancy their chances of a home win over Angers  It's between Nantes and Auxerre for the one remaining relegation place. Auxerre have a tough game against second place Lens. If Nantes can win this match and Auxerre don't beat Lens, then Nantes will survive. The hosts lost their last match 2-1 to Troyes, which extended their dismal record to 14 matches without a league win. The last time they tasted victory in Ligue 1 was at the start of February. At home, Nantes have only had four league wins in 18 games and have gone seven without a victory.  Despite their poor form, this is the best final fixture that the hosts could have hoped for, having not lost to this opponent in their last five games

Meanwhile, Angers have known their fate for a while now and will need to take the off-season to figure out how their season went so badly. They managed just 18 points in 37 matches this season and are five points behind second-from-bottom Ajaccio. Angers picked up just their fourth win this season in their last match, beating fellow relegation side Troyes 2-1 at home. That win brought an end to a six-match winless run which included five losses and a draw.  They do have four points from their last two games though which might concern Nantes. The visitors have recorded just one win in 18 away matches this term, along with three draws and a whopping 14 losses. Angers have failed to win any of their last 14 matches on the road, drawing two and losing 12. They've also conceded two or more goals in each of their last six away matches. 

 The hosts have everything to play for and will likely throw everything they have into attack here. In doing so, they could concede a few chances as Angers look to end their season on a high. Nantes are far from prolific, and as a result, we'll be taking a shrewd approach to this match on the handicap market. As a standalone bet, we'll be taking a punt on Angers +2 at odds of 1.9, but we'll give ourselves a little more leeway with the +3 option as our main wager. Our Nantes v Angers prediction: Angers +3.
