Miami Heat turned on the heat and pulled off a splendid win in Game 5 to force this tie into the sixth match. With the title within reach, will the Los Angeles Lakers spring back to form is a big question. After the Lakers breezed through the first two matches 116-98 and 124-114, the Heat brought a bit of interest back with a 115-104 in the third match. Lakers pulled off another win in the fourth match by 102-96, but the 111-108 result in the fifth game means the series is still wide open.
Miami showed in Game 5 that they can be lethal when things work out to perfection. It is their three-point game that came to party and made them look lethal. Miami’s defence has remained consistent throughout the Finals and in Game 5 the likes of Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herrero came into their own beyond the arc. Although Jimmy Butler stole the show with 35 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals in Game 5, it was a complete team effort from Miami in the series.
Lakers will not be disappointed with the loss in Game 5, as it was a very tight game. To add to that, the Lakers haven’t lost two games in succession in the playoffs this season. Regardless of what the naysayers, the Lakers will be the favourites for this match. Especially when you have superstar LeBron James who bursts to life in the playoffs and in the Finals. Although there is a bit of inconsistency in the way Kyle Kuzma or Danny Green or even Markieff Morris are performing, LeBron is a huge factor for the Lakers.
Miami Heat took the game to the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5, but expecting them to do an encore is tough. We are backing the Lakers to swiftly get back to form and close out the series.
