Fourth placed Manchester United host in-form Aston Villa in what should be a cracking game. The visitors are in sixth place and looking good for a place in European competition next season. The home side blew a 2-0 lead at Tottenham on Thursday but still have a six point lead over the struggling London team who are fifth. United also have two games in hand on Spurs (and Villa) so it'll take a major collapse for them not to clinch a Champions League place. Manchester United have earned 36 points from their 15 home league games this season. The only league loss at Old Trafford has been to Brighton and Hove Albion and that was back in August. United are unbeaten in the 14 league games that have followed that early season defeat. Two of the last four home matches in all competitions have seen both teams score.
When Unai Emery arrived at Villa Park, the target was to move his new team away from the relegation zone. No one imagined that they'd now be in contention for a European place, perhaps even the Champions League. A form guide for the last 20 Premier League games has them in second place and earning two points more than their opponents this weekend. Their most recent Premier League fixture saw them beat Fulham 1-0 at home making it six wins and a draw in their last seven games. Villa lost three successive league games in February with 11 goals conceded but since then have earned 26 points from ten games. Away form used to be a big problem but they have lost just one of their last nine in the Premier League. Three of their last four away league games have seen both teams score and Villa have found the net in each of their last nine on the road. A bet on both teams to score looks a winning one.
