Liverpool v Burnley Betting Tips [21 January 2021]

Premier League champions Liverpool will be desperate to get back to winning ways at Anfield when they face a Burnley side that is still looking to move away from the relegation zone. Liverpool are fourth in the Premier League standings after Sunday matches with 34 points from 18 matches. They are three points away from Manchester United who are at the top, whereas that position could be taken by Manchester City if they win against Aston Villa. Burnley are 17th after 17 matches with 16 points and four points ahead of Fulham in 18th spot, although the London club could narrow that gap by picking up points against Manchester United.

Liverpool were held to a goalless draw at home in their last match by United. This result extended their winless run to four matches with Liverpool drawing three and losing one. This run has seen just one goal across these games. Worryingly enough, Jurgen Klopp’s men have failed to score in three straight Premier League matches for the first time since 2005. Of course, the draw extended Liverpool’s incredible unbeaten league run at Anfield – they have now gone 68 Premier League games without a loss on home soil since losing to Crystal Palace in April 2017.

Burnley travel here after consecutive 1-0 losses to Manchester United and West Ham. This poor run has overshadowed Burnley’s mini-resurgence of nine matches prior to that, a sequence that saw Burnley win four, draw three and lose two. Sean Dyche’s men, however, still have problems going forward as they have scored only nine goals all season long. That drought of scoring extends to their travels where Burnley have struggled to score a goal in six of their last seven Premier League away matches. That includes their last three away league games with the last two ending in 1-0 losses.
