Liverpool begin their Champions League campaign with a home match against AC Milan. Jurgen Klopp says this is the hardest Champions League group his side has faced while he's been in charge. He's probably right though as the other two teams in this group are Porto and La Liga champions Atletico Madrid. Liverpool have made a good start to the new season with three wins and a draw with European champions Chelsea. They are third in the Premier League, only behind leaders Manchester United on goal difference. Their key players are in scoring form and their form at Anfield is back to something like normal after last season's horrors. Liverpool have only one loss in their last five home Champions League. That was to Atalanta and in the other four matches, they have kept clean sheets. Liverpool are unbeaten in their last eight home fixture, a big improvement on the shock six straight home matches.
AC Milan have also made a good start to their season. However, they will be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic for this group opener. Milan are second in Serie A after winning their first three games with seven goals scored and only one conceded. This is their first time in the Champions League for seven years. Partly caused by low league positions and bans. Only one of their last seven Champions League games has been won. In the Europa League last season, over 90 minutes only two of six away games were won. Liverpool know how tough this group is and they will want as many points as possible from their three games played at Anfield. Go for a home win here.
