Inter begin the defence of their Serie A title with a home game against Genoa. It's not been an easy time for them since clinching that title with financial problems hitting the club. They've sold Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi, bringing in over £150m. They have signed some player but for just over £27m. That's included Zinho Vanheusden from Standard Liege and PSV midfielder Denzil Dumfries. Lukaku may now be at Chelsea but they do still have Lautaro Martinez who scored 17 league goals for Inter last season. Inter had an incredible home league record last season winning 16 in a row. That included a 3-0 win over Genoa, who they also beat 2-0 on their travels.
Genoa have lost their last six away league games against Inter and all without scoring. They last got on the scoresheet in a Serie A game at Inter in 2015 but you have to go back nine years for the last time they avoided defeat in this fixture. Last season saw Genoa finish 11th in Serie A, 20 points off a place in European competition but only nine above the relegation zone. They lost nine away league games last season and won five but only scored 18 goals. Only a couple of million pounds have been spent on new players during the summer. Their main signing being Caleb Ekuban from Trabzonspor. They too have lost a top striker with Eldor Shomurodov being sold to Roma, he scored eight goals for them in Serie A last season. Back Inter to get their season off to a winning start.
