Inter Milan’s bid for the Serie A title will be severely tested here as they face an in-form Atalanta side looking to secure Champions League football themselves. Inter have beaten Atalanta in just one of the last six meetings but are on a six-game winning run in Serie A and currently lead the way in Italy with 59 points from 25 games. Inter lead their city rivals AC Milan in second by six points while Atalanta are currently fourth level on points with Juventus who are third on 49, occupying the final Champions League place after four consecutive league wins.
This should be a cracking game between the league’s two most in-form teams and the two highest-scoring teams in the division. Inter have won six on the spin and look on course for their first league title in over 10 years. Antonio Conte’s side have scored two or more goals in each of their last six league fixtures and I feel that without the distraction of European football they have been able to get into their groove domestically. Inter have lost just two games since their matchday five Champions League loss to Real Madrid back in November, which all but ended their European season and since then their form has been immense. Inter have won each of their last nine Serie A matches at the San Siro but Atalanta have won on each of their last three trips on the road. The Bergamo club have conceded just 13 goals in 12 away league matches whilst losing just once on the road. Atalanta have won each of their last five matches against Serie A opposition but they are winless in four versus Inter despite losing just one of those games.
