Everton v Aston Villa Betting Tips [22 January 2022]

Everton come into this match fresh off the sacking of Rafa Benetiz and with caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson now taking the reins. The Spaniard's controversial time in charge of the club came to an end after their last result, a 2-1 loss to struggling Norwich. The visitors, led by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, currently sit 13th in the table with 24 points and will be looking to break into the top half with a win here. After winning four of his first six matches in charge, Villa have wobbled in recent weeks - losing three consecutive matches before an inspired two goal comeback to earn a point against Manchester United in a match that finished 2-2. 

Everton will be hoping for the “new manager bounce” when they host Aston Villa and there is a pretty good chance they can get a result here. The Toffees home record has been solid this season, although certainly not spectacular. They have won four of their home matches, drawn one and lost four with a goal differential of -1. Aston Villa have been struggling away from home this season and their poor away form could play a major factor in this match. Villa have won three and lost seven away from home with a goal differential of -6 and have lost their last two away matches - 2-1 to Brentford and a 1-0 loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup. Everton’s form has been truly horrific in the past few weeks but now with Benetiz out, the toxic atmosphere around the club might temporarily be alleviated and the fans will surely be behind the caretaker manager.
