A 3-1 home win over Everton on Sunday saw Crystal Palace end the weekend 12th in the Premier League. They aim for another home league win when hosting Southampton who are down in 16th place. Palace have 19 points and 13 of those have been earned at Selhurst Park. The Eagles have only won one away league match this season (a surprise victory at Manchester City) but are proving difficult to beat on home soil. The win over Everton was their third of the season with four draws and one loss to Aston Villa. They will be wanting to get as many points over the festive period due to several players being absent early next year due to the Africa Cup of Nations. That won't include Connor Gallagher who is in top form and scored twice against Everton.
Southampton had a miserable weekend, losing 3-0 away at Arsenal on Saturday. They are two places and five points above the relegation zone afer that loss at the Emirates. The loss extended their winless run in the Premier League to five games with only two ponts earned. Away form has to improve in 2022 if they are to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle. It's a long-term problem for the Saints with just two wins in the last 21. The last three have been lost with nine goals conceded. Back Palace to keep up their good home form with a victory.
