Crystal Palace have a surprisingly positive recent record against Liverpool, as they look to upset the leaders in the Premier League this weekend. Palace start this round 12th in the table after losing their way a little, while Liverpool are at the top of the points table with an eight-point lead over their nearest challengers.
Palace are without a win for four Premier League matches now, losing three of those. However, all those losses have been to top-four sides although it is no solace. They are without a win since the first week of October and can do well with a change of fortunes. What should worry the ‘Eagles’ is that their home form is also faltering. After starting the season with no losses in four home fixtures, Palace have gone on to lose their last two home fixtures. The only saving grace could be that each of their six home matches have been low scorers.
Liverpool have notched up a 3-1 win over Manchester City before the international break giving them a nine-point lead over the Champions. That gives them three straight wins and 11 out of 12 this season. The Reds have dropped points only once this season, away at Old Trafford. However, Liverpool’s defence hasn’t been at its best in the recent matches. That gives a chance for the hosts, especially since three of Liverpool’s last four away games have produced goals at both ends. Liverpool will still be wary of playing Palace, as this fixture has been a problem fixture for them in recent times. However, they should be able to get a win over the line this time.
Liverpool have put a huge gulf between them and the challengers with a huge win over Manchester City in their previous game. Crystal Palace have traditionally been a banana peel fixture for them, but this time around the Reds should go ahead and win it.
