Liverpool will try to keep their slim title hopes alive as they travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace for matchday 23 of the Premier League. The visitors are currently second in the league with 45 points, holding a one point lead over Chelsea and trailing Manchester City by 11 points. Liverpool advanced to the final of the Carabao Cup after defeating Arsenal 2-0 in their last match and, despite a recent wobble in form, have gone five matches without losing. Crystal Palace have shown some positive signs this season under manager Patrick Viera but will face a stern test in this match. The Eagles will be hoping their supporters can give them a boost which has often been the case this season - Palace have earned 17 points at home compared to just seven points away. The Eagles currently sit 11th with 24 points and are coming off a 1-1 draw away to Brighton.
It’s a difficult period for Liverpool with their two star wingers away on international duty at the AFCON. Salah has been having his best ever season and is hands down the best player in the Premier League at the moment. His influence is impossible to replace although the Reds have a deep squad and Diogo Jota, in particular, will be asked to shoulder a large share of the attacking load until Salah’s return. The Portuguese international scored a brace against Arsenal in the last match and is a top-class player. Liverpool should have success against Palace here and are perhaps a bit unlucky to be trailing City by so many points given the two sides are clearly a cut above the rest. Jurgen Klopp’s side has scored 30 goals in 11 away matches and boast an impressive +18 goal differential away from home.
Liverpool look to be getting back in the groove with three wins in their last four and back to back shutout victories. Although Crystal Palace have been much better at home this season, the visitors should have too much firepower even without Salah and Mane. At this price there is still a bit of value to be had so we’re going to back the Reds to take the three points in this one on the 1X2 line.
