Crystal Palace host Leeds at Selhurst Park, in a must-win game for both. Palace made a noble effort against Chelsea but their recent form makes for grim reading. Vieira’s team have won just one of their first seven Premier League games and are languishing in seventeenth place, being just above the drop zone on goal difference. They have also scored just twice in their last three league games, while they’ve surrendered points from winning positions in three of their last four, so there’s also an apparent mentality issue to contend with. On the upside, they do tend to be hard to beat in South London. They only lost to Chelsea in the dying stages of the game, while it was just their second defeat in their last seventeen home games. It has not been that straightforward against Leeds in the recent past however, having only managed to beat the Peacocks twice in their last five home meetings.
Leeds are surely a different side this season. Jesse March has instilled a remarkable fighting spirit upon his team, something evident from the draw they claimed against Aston Villa, despite being a player down since the 48th minute. In other news, it was also positive to see Patrick Bamford see out the whole game after his recent injury struggles. The visitors are sitting twelfth at the moment, yet with just three points away from the Top 6, this game presents a real opportunity for them. On the downside, they are winless in their last four, also failing to win in their last five on the road.
