Two struggling London teams will look for some consistency as Crystal Palace host Chelsea in the last match of this matchday. This game will be played at Selhurst Park on Monday. The hosts are 15th in the standings with 24 points while the visitors are 11th with 31 points. Palace are five points above the bottom-three and although that’s a comfortable margin for the moment, they wouldn’t be too confident going by their recent form. The Eagles lost 4-1 at Brighton in their last game making it alternate win-loss results in their last four league games. Their scoring ability will be put under focus as their tally of 26 goals is worse than only the bottom-two clubs. At least they would be confident playing at this venue as two wins and a draw from their last three home league games suggest.
Chelsea could look at this game as a chance to move into the top-half as they are only four points behind top-eight. Yet, their glaring inconsistencies continue to haunt them. Consecutive defeats to Liverpool and Wolves have made redundant their run of three consecutive wins, one of which has come against Palace at home. That was a 2-1 result for the Blues, whose defensive record is as poor as the Eagles having conceded 40 goals compared to Palace’s 39. Any hopes of beating the rut will have to pass the test of their poor away record as Chelsea have lost five of their last six away league games.
