Top seed Carlos Alcaraz will take on the unseeded Sebastian Korda on Saturday in the Queen’s Club Championship semifinals. A first-ever final here against either second seed Holger Rune or the seventh seed Alex de Minaur awaits the winner. Carlos Alcaraz is arguably the form player in the ATP this season. He is now one win away from advancing to his sixth final of the season. If he does so, it will be his first on grass across the three ATP levels. The Spaniard has four titles already this season. He has won 38 of the 42 matches he has played and is 3-0 on grass. To book this round he outwitted the qualifier Grigor Dimitrov, a former champion here, in straight sets. He will be brimming with confidence, especially given the fact that he has twice defeated Korda. Alcaraz is currently ranked second in the ATP, winning in London in his debut, will see him move back up to number one.
Sebastian Korda is also making his debut in London where he is making his season debut on grass. And what a tournament it has turned out to be for the American. Korda had a torrid time on clay where he claimed only one win. But upon arriving in London, he has been a whole different player. He has won all his three matches without dropping a set. His win over crowd favourite Cameron Norrie in the quarterfinals highlights the form that he is in. Korda has moved up seven places in the live ranking and into 25th place, a new career high. He defeated Alcaraz in Monte-Carlo last season for his only win in this fixture and will hope for some of that luck here. Korda has played one final this season which was in Adelaide at the start of the year.
Our prediction for Carlos Alcaraz v Sebastian Korda is for Alcaraz to win in three sets. Matches against these two have never been straightforward. We believe that this one won’t as well as both players have been in excellent form in London. Alcaraz is our pick to win as he has done it twice and is arguably the most form player in the ATP.
