Top seeded Carlos Alcaraz takes on third seed Daniil Medvedev for a place in the Wimbledon final. Neither of these two players have made it to that stage at this grass court Grand Slam. The winner will face either second seed (and defending champion) Novak Djokovic or the eighth seeded Jannik Sinner. There have been questions over whether the Spaniard can win on this surface. His win in the Queen's Club tournament held prior to this tournament showed his ability on grass. He'd previously never made it past the fourth round at Wimbledon but has got to the last four with only two sets dropped. The quarter finals saw him defeat sixth seeded Holger Rune in straight sets. Alcaraz is 1-1 in previous meetings with Medvedev. He lost at Wimbledon to the Russian in 2021 but beat him in this year's Indian Wells final.
Daniil Medvedev had also failed to get past round four at Wimbledon before this year. He's had a good year on hard courts and clay with five titles being won. His grass court record has failed to reach those levels. The Russian has only ever won one tournament on grass and that was in Mallorca two years ago. Since then he's lost finals in the Netherlands and Germany. His route to this first Wimbledon semi-final has seen him yet to face a seeded opponent. He has lost three sets though and had to come from a set down against Marton Fucsovics in round three. His quarter final was against unseeded Christopher Eubanks and he went two sets to one down in that match. A fourth set tie-break was won to stay in the match and then he won the final set fr the loss of one game. This could be a close match but we tip Alcaraz to get the win.
