Besiktas can go as many as six points clear at the top of the Turkish Super Lig. That's if they beat BB Erzurumspor who are one from bottom in the table and five points from safety. The league leaders begin the weekend with a four point lead over Fenerbahce and they have a game in hand. Their last league game saw them get a 3-0 home win over Alanyaspor, a welcome win indeed. Their previous two fixtures had only produced one point, including a surprise 1-0 loss at 14th placed Kasimpasa. The point was an important one at home to Fenerbahce but they could have done without conceding an 89th minute equalizer. Away form for Besiktas has produced nine away wins. They had been unbeaten in eight before the loss to Kasimpasa. The reverse fixture against Erzurmspor saw them win 4-0, though they had to wait until the 59th minute for the first goal.
The home side are battling to stay in the top flight of Turkish football. Five points separate them from survival but their form is not good at present. They have gone eight league games without a win, the last victory coming at Rizespor in early February. Those last eight games have only produced three points and that's not going to get them out of the relegation zone. Their most recent game was a 1-1 draw at Genclerbirligi and they needed an 89th minute goal to get that point. They have the worse home record in this league with only one victory all season. That came against Ankaragucu on the last day of January. Since then, five games have seen three points earned. Go for Besiktas to boost their title challenge with an away win.
