League One Bristol Rovers bid to reach the FA Cup third round for the fourth consecutive season. They are 15th in League One and host Boreham Wood who areĀ in the National League. The home side made a terrible start to the new season with six of their first 10 league games being lost. Since then, only Derby have beaten them in their last nine league fixtures, They are only six points behind the final promotion play-off position. A form guide for the last 10 games in League One has them in eighth position. In all competitions, Rovers are that one loss in their last 13 games played. Their home form has improved two with five wins and two draws in their last seven matches. Last weekend saw them beat second placed Peterborough at home 1-0. In the FA Cup, Rovers beat Rochdale 1-0 at home to reach the second round. Only Sheffield United have beaten them in their last eight FA Cup home games.
Boreham Wood play two divisions below their opponents. They are only 10th in the National League but that's just two points behind the final promotion play-off position. Boreham Wood's current form is a worry though with only two points from their last five league games, putting them 21st in the form guide for that period. They had a great run in the FA Cup last season making it all the way to the fifth round (the last 16). They beat Bournemouth away in the fourth round, before losing 2-0 at Everton. Boreham Wood have beaten fellow National League sides Wealdstone and Eastleight to get this far. The win over Eastleigh is the only game they've won in their last seven fixtures with one win in their last six on the road. Will the FA Cup inspire them again? It may well do but Rovers can get a narrow home win.
