Matchday three in the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers will see Brazil take on Venezuela on Friday. The hosts currently lead the standings with six points, while the visitors are in fifth place with three points. Brazil have been good in the competition so far. They won both matches to date, beating Bolivia 5-1 and Peru 1-0 last month. With that, Brazil have now won four and lost two of their last six competitive matches. Those losses were against Cameroon and Croatia at the World Cup last year. The latter knocked them out of the competition after a penalty shootout. The hosts have won each of their last three matches against this opponent and are unbeaten in their last six. Unsurprisingly, Brazil are the favourites in this one.
Meanwhile, Venezuela will be hoping for much better in these qualifiers. They finished at the bottom of the table in their last qualifying campaign, with ten points in 18 matches. During that time, the visitors recorded just three wins and a draw, along with 14 losses. Venezuela got the current campaign started with a 1-0 loss to Colombia but bounced back well to beat Paraguay 1-0 a week later. They have now won three of their last four matches, including friendly match wins over Honduras and Guatemala back in June. While they are massive underdogs here, the Venezuelans will be hoping for a strong performance in a bid to create some momentum for their match against Chile next week.
Brazil are well on their way to securing their qualification for the World Cup and will be looking forward to this match against an opponent they have dominated in the past. We fancy the hosts to secure an easy win here while also scoring a few goals as well. Our Brazil vs Venezuela prediction: Brazil to win and over 2.5
