It's all looking rather gloomy for Barnsley who are bottom of the Championship. They host 20th placed Cardiff City who won at home to Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Barnsley come into this game having lost four league games in a row and are eight points from safety. It'd be more but for Reading and Derby both being deducted points. Barnsley are 12 points behind Cardiff and have the second worst home record in the Championship with only ten points from 13 games and just two wins. They have failed to score in their last two home league fixtures with just one in the last five.
Cardiff City have had a disappointing season after making the play-offs last season. They are two places above the relegation zone with a six point gap to 22nd placed Peterborough. But for those points taken off Reading and Derby, the Welsh side would be in the bottom three. They had a welcome win on Sunday with a 2-1 home win over promotion chasing Nottingham Forest. Cardiff have gone four away league matches without a win, though it's been a tough fixture list. Two of those four were drawn and they can build on that win over Forest to get three vital points.
