Babelsberg host Leipzig in the second round of the Dfb Pokal in the Karl-Liebknecht-Stadion. The hosts are playing their first-ever Dfb Pokal competition since 2001 and come into the game with a penalty shoot-out win over Furth after a 2-2 scoreline in the first round. Babelsberg are currently placed sixth in the Regionalliga Nordost, which is the German fourth division and come into the game with a 1-1 draw with Lokomotiv Leipzig. They have lost just one out of their last seven matches and come into the Leipzig fixture with a decent run of form. However, Babelsberg are simply no match for Bundesliga heavyweights Leipzig and it might be the end of the road for Jorg Buder’s men.
Leipzig, on the contrary, have finished as runners up in two out of the last three Dfb-Pokals. They have won six out of their last seven fixtures in the Dfb-Pokal and are pegged as one of the few favourites to go all the way and win the cup title. Leipzig come into the game with a dominating 4-1 win over Greuther Furth in the Bundesliga. They are not at a great place in the Bundesliga but are way too strong to deal with for a German fourth division side. Leipzig raced to a dominating 4-0 win over second-division side Sandhausen This will be the first meeting between the two sides and it is a no brainer that the visitors are heavy favourites.
Babelsberg are on a pathway of redemption in German football after going bankrupt a few years back. The penalty shoot out win over Furth was a historic result for the club. However, they stand virtually no chance against the might of Leipzig and are expected to crash out of the Dfb-Pokal. We are backing Leipzig to lead at both half time and full time.
