Augsburg v Köln Betting Tips [7 June 2020]

After losing 2-0 at Hertha Berlin in their last league match, FC Augsburg are ranked thirteenth in the Bundesliga, where they are just four points above the relegation zone. They next take on FC Koln, who are three points ahead at twelfth. Both teams could easily drop into relegation if they do not exercise caution in their remaining five games. 

Augsburg have won once and lost twice in their four games since the season resumed mid May. Their only victory in the period was an impressive 3-0 away win over tenth team Schalke, which proved their ability to play well when they mean to. At home, Augsburg have only won once in six matches  but have managed to score at least once in five of the matches. 

Visitors Koln fell 4-2 at home to RB Leipzig, their second consecutive loss after they fell 3-1 at Hoffenheim. Koln's recent undoing appears to be in defense as they have conceded at least two goals in all four games they have played since the league returned from the Covid-19 break. Two of the four games ended with 2-2 draws. The team's recent away performance is below average as they have won twice and lost three times in five games. One of the two wins was a jaw-dropping 5-0 beating of better-ranked Hertha Berlin, which proved the team's capability to present a worthy challenge when called upon to. In terms of goal count, all of Koln's last five games had over 2.5 goals and and four had goals by both opponents. 

The two teams last competed against each other in November 2019, a match that ended in a 1-1 draw. Their second match of the previous season had also closed with a similar scoreline and it will be exciting to see if either coach will come out with a strategy to win this reverse game. 

With a relegation threat hovering around the two sides, they will each go into the match determined to glide away. Both coaches will be cautious in defense, but we expect brilliant moments of attack. We see both teams scoring and the total count to exceed two goals.
