Atletico Madrid v Levante Betting Tips [16 February 2022]

Spanish champions Atletico Madrid breathed some air into their ailing title defence with a 4-3 win over Getafe in their last league game. After the win, they will be shifting attention to a home game against Levante. Fourth placed Atletico have now managed 39 points while Levante, at the foot of the table, have 11 points. Atletico Madrid led 2-0 against Getafe in their last game, but at some point found themselves 3-2 down and it took Mario Hermoso’s late goal to secure three points. One concern for Atletico going into this game is their defending; they have no clean sheet in their last five matches, and have even failed to score in one. They have conceded two or more goals in each of their last five matches. Four of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals and two times in the last four matches, Atletico have had a player sent off. In the most recent match it was Miguel Felipe, and he will be suspended for the Levante game.

Levante are coming from yet another loss, their 14th of the league this season, and they’ve managed the least number of wins so far, just one in their 23 league games. This is definitely not good enough but it is their defence that has posed the biggest worries, the team having conceded 50 goals so far in the league, the highest. In their last game, Levante suffered a 4-2 home loss to Real Betis, a game in which Roberto Soldado was sent off, and stands suspended for this game. It was also the second time in four matches that Levante had a player sent off. Levante have conceded two or more goals in four of their last five matches and they have just one clean sheet in their last five matches. Three of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals and they’ve failed to score in three of the last five matches.

Over 2.5 goals seems a good pick for this game, seeing that these two sides haven’t done too well defensively and they have big targets for this game. With the top four being congested, Atletico will feel this is a good chance for them to hold on, while Levante are desperate to escape the relegation region so both sides will want to attack. Over 2.5 goals thus seems possible.
