Both Aston Villa and Newcastle United remained pointless after the first week of the English Premier League season. That's despite them both scoring twice in their games. More goals are looking likely when Villa play their first home league game of the season. Villa got off to a disappointing start when losing away at newly-promoted Watford. They went 3-0 down before two late goals put a bit of respectability into the score. Of the last 11 Premier League games played by Aston Villa, only a goalless draw at home to Everton has not seen both teams score. That stat has also come up in two of the last three games played between these two sides.
Newcastle also made a poor start to the season but at least they led in their match. United were 1-0 and 2-1 up at home to West Ham United but then it all fell apart. West Ham then scored three goals in 13 minutes to win the game 4-2. Newcastle only finished a place below Aston Villa in the Premier League last season. Villa were 12th and Newcastle 13th but there was a ten point gap between the two clubs. United won six away league games last season but were beaten in nine. Three of their last four away Premier League games saw both teams score. They do regularly score on their travels, scoring in four of the last five but have only three clean sheets in the last 14. A bet on both teams to score is the one to make.
