Second seed Holger Rune will on Saturday battle seventh seed Alex de Minaur in the semifinals at the Queen’s Club Championship. The winner here will advance to play either top seed Carlos Alcaraz or unseeded Sebastian Korda in the final. Alex de Minaur defeated Adrian Mannarino in three sets in the quarterfinals to claim his 20th win of the season. The Australian has been in strong form on grass where he now has four wins in five matches on the surface. He dropped his first set in London in the game against Mannarino. Advancing to only his second semifinal here has tightened his grip on 18th place in the ATP live ranking. de Minaur defeated Rune in the semifinals in Acapulco earlier this year to claim his first win in this fixture. He will hope for the same outcome as he targets his second title of the year.
Holger Rune also has a semifinal win over de Minaur. The first-ever encounter between the two took place in Stockholm last season. Rune won in three sets on his way to winning the title and four days later won their first-round showdown in Basel. This time around he did not go on to win the trophy but did manage to reach the final. He will hope for the same outcome as he targets not only his first tour trophy on grass but his first final on the surface. The Dane has been in excellent form in London where he has won his three matches without dropping a set. To book this round, he defeated sixth seed Lorenzo Musetti in a match that lasted almost two hours. The current world number six has been in tremendous form this season. He has won 33 matches and has played three finals with one title success.
Our prediction for Alex de Minaur v Holger Rune is for de Minaur to win. de Minaur won his first match in this fixture in March. And as he is the more experienced player on grass, we pick him to win.
