Ajax v Volendam Betting Tips [26 January 2023]

Ajax will welcome Volendam to the Johan Cruijff Arena for a midweek clash in the Eredivisie, with both sides desperately in need of a win. The home side has not won in the league in their last six matches, recording five draws and a loss. Their recent form has seen them slip to fifth place in the league, with 33 points in 17 matches, five behind Feyenoord at the top. Ajax will want to improve their home form in the second half of the season, where they’ve taken only 15 of 24 points, winning only half of their eight games at the Johan Cruijff Arena this season. The home side has been the more dominant in this fixture, winning five of their last six matches against Volendam. In the reverse match, Ajax came away with a convincing 4-2 victory away from home. This is a perfect opportunity for Ajax to end their poor run against a team that is finding it very difficult in the league so far this season.

The visitors will be hoping that Ajax’s recent dip in form will afford them a few chances, but it’s hard to see them coming away with anything from this one. 

Ajax will see this as the perfect opportunity to put a below-average run of games behind them and keep the pressure on the sides above them. Despite their poor league position, the visitors do possess enough quality to sneak a goal or two but should be outscored by the bigger club in what we expect to be a relatively high-scoring encounter.
