The Championship has been delivering again this season and a third of the way through the season just four points separate the top-eight teams in the division and in amongst that pack are Swansea and Bournemouth. The Swans defeated Luton 2-0 on Saturday to move to fourth on 29 points while the Cherries were in action on the road the previous evening and left Barnsley with all three points with a 4-0 win. Jason Tindall brings his Bournemouth side to Wales in 2nd place just one point behind league-leaders Norwich City and are eyeing an immediate return to the Premier League. With Norwich and Reading not playing until Wednesday, whoever wins this game will go top of the table.
Swansea travelled to Nottingham Forest last Sunday and secured a 1-0 win to take all three points but did suffer a setback losing to Middlesbrough before making amends at the weekend with victory over Luton. At home they have lost just one of their eight matches and are unbeaten since a 2-1 loss to Huddersfield at the Liberty Stadium back in October. The hosts have won four of their last five games and have managed to keep a clean sheet in each victory meaning they haven’t conceded in seven of their last ten matches at home.
Bournemouth too suffered defeat in their last midweek game losing 3-2 at home to Preston last Tuesday but they managed to secure victory on Friday night in quite convincing fashion by hammering Barnsley 4-0. The Cherries will continue on their travels with a trip to Wales here where they haven’t lost since 2006 but Bournemouth’s form on the road of late has been patchy. Despite being unbeaten in three on away from home the Cherries have only won one of those games and have only achieved maximum points in three of their eight trips thus far.
