Eindhoven turn their attention to the Europa League group stages after failing to make it to the Champions League group stages. The Dutch side overcame Galatasaray and Midtjylland in the Champions League qualifiers but succumbed to an aggregate defeat to Benfica and had to settle for a place in the Europa League group stages. Real Sociedad make a return to the Europa League group stages after finishing fifth in the previous La Liga season. Eindhoven have had a great start to the new season barring just a single defeat to Benfica. They are placed top of the Eredivisie with four wins in as many games. They also have had four wins, a draw and a loss in the continental qualifiers so far. Eindhoven have also managed to keep six clean sheets so far in the eleven matches thus winning ten of their last eleven games overall. Roger Schmidt’s men also have been a force to be reckoned with at home, clinching four wins and a draw in the five home games so far. Eindhoven’s most recent game was a 3-0 win over Alkmaar in the Eredivisie.
Real Sociedad began their season with a 4-2 loss against Barcelona at the Camp Nou. The Basque-based side have come back to win three games in a row in the La Liga to make it to fourth place in the standings. Sociedad have been a very economical side when it comes to defending as they have managed to keep three clean sheets in a row in their three-game winning streak. Sociedad’s Mikel Oyarzabal scored a brace in the club’s 2-0 win over Cadiz in their most recent game in the La Liga. The two teams have never faced each other earlier in any official competition and this will be their first-ever meeting.
Real Sociedad bring in a good run of form in the game but Eindoven’s exemplary run of results in the new season, especially at home, make the Dutch side, firm favourites in this Europa League tie. We are backing Eindhoven to prevail and win this game.
